Research

I began by creating a user flow so I could understand how users would be navigating through the application.

I was also interested in creating an application with a unique visual aesthetic so I also created a color palette and laid out my fonts and typefaces before getting started on wire framing and prototyping.

Design Decisions

I implemented an extensive onboarding process asking questions about lifestyle, budget, and cleanliness to give users quality roommate recommendations. Letting users look at each others profiles and creating bios also helps people determine how well they would match with their suggested roommates. I also added a chat feature so people can talk with one another about their interests and needs in a roommate before they commit to signing a lease together.

Users can also share their contacts with Roomies. The app would compare the contacts of users to inform them if they have mutual friends with potential matches. This gives users the opportunity to cross check their matches with trusted sources allowing the best possible living situation.
